The Atomic Ferret's musings on ChattaCon 2005

Another fantastic ChattaCon has come and gone.

This one was quite a bit more laid back than others in the past, and I did not photo document it as well as I should have.

We did not spend a whole lot of time at the actual convention.  We mostly played tourist around Chattanooga and goofed off.

However, I did enter a costume in the Masquerade contest.

I have been working on this gown for about two months.  It is the most complicated thing I have made, and I was very proud.

I have only been sewing for about two years, and this is the first time I braved an Advance Skill Level costume.

I made the entire dress, with the help of my friend Lynn.  I wish the lighting was better in the photograph.  You cannot see all the ruffling and velvet trim in this light.

Since it was Victorian Era, my friend Joey brought his British Soldier  uniform and we entered the contest together.

We had a very funny short comment read as we walked up to the stage.  I don't remember exactly what it said, but it was something along the lines of "In  scene from Victorian Britain, You may see a young widow being escorted by the best friend of her departed husband, whom was killed by Zulus.  ( At this point our friends in the audience cried out the Zulu battle cry)  The friend, however, is not as saddened by the loss."  (At that point, Joey turned to the audience, winked, and did a thumbs up sign.)

We won for Best Historic Recreation.  That made me very proud!

Course, my truest love met me back stage after the contest.  What would a web site be without gratuitous romantic pictures of me and Evan?  He was very very proud of me for making this dress.

Here are just some really neat pictures of my friend Kim.

And random images from Friday night.  I got all gothed up, and was caught in the act of knitting while waiting to go to a party.

I think my cover has been blown!

And last, but not least, a FANTASTIC picture of Christine and I at the Con suite Friday night.  I think this image sums up all that is ChattaCon!
